When God Reaches Through the Chaos
Life has been challenging lately. Challenging in ways I had never expected. Never prepared for. Never saw coming.
Do we ever see what challenges are ahead?
And yet, God goes in front of us before we ever step into each struggle. That, we can be sure of, but sometimes it’s hard to find God in those seasons…sometimes.
That’s been the case with me.
I always thought I had the faith that could “move mountains” and I feel like I’ve seen a few of those mountains moved. Haven’t you? When God moves it’s usually big enough that we know it had to be Him. It just had to be!
So, why was this season different from the rest for me?
I think it’s because He used challenges along with His master chipping clippers, and the pruning was oh so painful.
I had to realize some tough stuff like…oh, I don’t know…like after half of my adult life has passed, I finally accept the reality that I’ve got codependent tendencies. Oh, many close family and friends have slipped it out here and there…Hey, you’re a bit codependent… I’d laugh it off. Until I realized there was truth there, and then I cried, as I continue to feel like tissue paper waiting to be ripped.
No more laughing…well, maybe a little.
But how does all of this affect my marriage? OH BOY, I’m still figuring that out and I’ll be writing about it as we go. I hope you’ll follow me on this journey.
But for today, God came through. He came through in a most unusual way…
I ran into a friend I haven’t seen in a while. I went on and on about my season and opportunities and deadlines.
Then, I asked, How are you?
It’s been tough. My husband has a terminal illness and he doesn’t have much time left.
My heart dropped to the floor.
While my heart sunk, the faith of this friend glared through the bad news.
God never promises us tomorrow.
Today’s lesson:
No matter what season or challenges, love with your whole heart. Be patient with yourself and be patient with those you love. We are all in process.
Fondly,
Lu
