New Day
‘“When you wake up in the morning, Pooh,’ said Piglet at last, ‘What’s the first thing you say to yourself?’
‘What’s for breakfast?’ said Pooh. ‘What do you say, Piglet?’
‘I say, I wonder what’s going to happen exciting today?’ said Piglet.
Pooh nodded thoughtfully. ‘It’s the same thing,’ he said.” –Winnie-the-Pooh
What’s the first thing you say to yourself when you wake up in the morning?
Are you excited for the new day ahead, or what you’ll have for breakfast?
If I’m honest, it’s both for me.
But the truth is we get to choose what we think on.
We get to choose if we will be thankful for our lives and our loved ones or not. We get to choose our mindset as we approach each new day.
How we begin our day is important.
I know this can be challenging, especially when life seems out of control.
But try this…
In the morning start with:
Thank you, God, for this new day.
Then think about all the things and people you are grateful for and find one thing you can look forward to for that day. Seeds of resentment cannot grow in a thankful heart.
If we wake, and we’re breathing, the opportunities are endless.
“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”
-Psalm 9:1
