Never Give Up

Someone reading this today is ready to throw in the towel, quit, walk away, be done. It can be a number of things. A dream, a relationship, a hope, a prayer. It can be as different as we are different.

On my darkest days, there’s a phrase I say to myself…

You haven’t heard from Jesus yet.

Wait.

Wait, until you hear from Jesus.

Then the clouds will lift.

And the darkness will fade.

Think of Jesus’ mother Mary as she watched her son hanging on that cross. Think of the apostles having walked with Jesus only to see him betrayed, beaten, and nailed to a cross. Think of the curious and skeptical onlookers hearing of Jesus, perhaps seeing miracles, maybe even hearing him teach only to watch him die a brutal and painful death.

Think of that day.

They hadn’t heard from Jesus yet on that dark dark day.

And then…

We all know the story…

Jesus spoke.

Jesus fulfilled his purpose and told us to fulfill ours. Before he was resurrected it was dark, very dark…

But then, after, the heavens opened up.

Hope was restored.

The future looked bright.

WAIT.

Wait until you hear from Jesus.

Jesus makes all the difference.

“And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.”

– Thessalonians 3:13

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest, if we do not give up.”

– Galatians 6:9
