COVID Christmas

Well it’s here folks, our first COVID holiday season. Did any of us think this would be going on for so long? Honestly, I didn’t. I was taking it one day at a time and now the Christmas season is here. How will it be different this year from years before? Some of us may have concerns and anxieties and fears.

Thanksgiving has ended and for us it wasn’t hugely different because of the current threats which loom over all of us. We didn’t travel like usual, but we were surrounded by family and laughter and fun.

This season has brought all of us to our core of what’s most important. Wouldn’t you agree?

We’ve thought about our faith. Some have relied on faith while others have been consumed with doubts.

We’ve thought about our families. Some have gotten closer to family while others have had more conflict with family.

We’ve thought about our marriages. Some have had their marriage strengthened while others are facing separation.

We’ve thought about our jobs. Some have realized how much we appreciate and love our jobs while others have come to terms with finding another.

When we are squeezed what’s inside comes out.

If inside of you is a love for Christmas and the joy of the season, then that’s what will come out even during this trying time. We may need to celebrate differently but nothing can stop our celebrations.

And that’s what I’m encouraging you to do this Christmas season…

Celebrate.

Celebrate life.

Celebrate family.

Celebrate love.

Celebrate friends.

Celebrate before the Lord.

In 2 Samuel 6:14-15 David danced before the Lord in celebration…

“And David danced before the Lord with all his might, wearing a priestly garment. So David and all the people of Israel brought up the Ark of the Lord with shouts of joy and the blowing of rams’ horns.”

Don’t allow anything to stop you from celebrating. Celebrate this season with “all your might” and with “shouts of joy.”

We can make COVID Christmas one of our best ever if we have the right mindset and focus on what’s most important.
